A new season is well and truly in swing, and now that the weather is starting to change we’re embracing the new colours and fresh shades that have come along with it. The Spring/ Summer ’18 shows of Fashion Week seem like a lifetime ago now, so avid trend fans will be well aware that this new season brought with it a serious focus on the eyes. Eye make-up – be it winged jet-black liner or a citrusy wash of lemon – was loud and look-at-me, complemented perfectly by sheer skin, undone brows and glassy wet-look lips. To sum up S/S’18 in one eye colour though, is a struggle. Designers used the warm new season to embrace a whole range of colours, from disco blue to peacock green, with colour placement and products used ranging in variety just as much. The plus-side of this? There’s guaranteed to be an eye colour tribe to suit your style, that you can slot right into and embrace all summer long. So, ladies, go ahead and pick your tribe….
The tribe: Citrus yellow
The look: A pop of yellow eyeshadow topped the lids at Novis, a look that was created by brushing Nars’ brand new Douro shade of eyeshadow (look out for it)
The shows: Fenty X Puma; Novis
Try this if: you aint no wallflower. This one requires oodles of attitude.
Get the look: if sunburst yellow isn’t your bag, then try out Fenty Beauty’s Trophy Wife yellow-gold highlighter pigment, in the inner corner of your eye only.
The tribe: Black Magic
The look: stark-black liner that sits anywhere but the lash line
The shows: Lanvin; Jason Wu; Marc Jacobs
Try this if: you’re into bold, but simple, style statements. This look is very precise, very definite and means business. Go brave or go home.
Get the look: A fat chunky sweep of Laritzy Cosmetics Eye Pencil Liner £12*
high up in the crease of the eyelid, a la Lanvin, says you understand this trend and aren’t afraid to shout about it.
The tribe: Peacock feathers
The look: Show-stopping plumage-inspired shades of emerald, metallic blue, jade and turquoise.
The shows: Phillip Plein; Marni; Fendi
Try this if: a winter of smokey eyes have left you craving some colour. Also the perfect look for all you festival-goers.
Get the look: emulate the emerald flick seen at Fendi, with the very product used by Pat McGrath backstage. Blitz Emerald from the Mothership II: Sublime Eye Palette £93 is a vibrant hue which pops against all skin tones.
The tribe: Bronzundy (somewhere between bronze and burgundy)
The look: A gorgeous bronzy-burgundy smoky eye, that looks romantic yet fresh and modern. A much-needed update on the trad black smokey eye.
The shows: Brock; Naeem Khan
Try this if: you’re a green-eyed girl. The warm opposing tones of burgundy and bronze look stunning against your peepers.
Get the look: Blend your own mixture of warm red, bronze, berrie, brick and metallic brown, to find the ultimate bespoke shade of bronzundy, that flatters your skintone and makes your eye colour stand out.
