In-Flight Facials: Your 30,000 Ft High Beauty Routine

Flying is a great opportunity to sit back and indulge in some skin pampering - especially when flying can actually wreak havoc on your skin. The cabin's low humidity levels, recycled air, and exposure to varying altitudes can leave your skin feeling dry, dull, and irritated.

Got a two hour plus flight? Fit in a well-planned skincare routine, so you step off at your destination looking extra glowy and radiant. Here’s a few hacks to make it super easy!

Pre-Flight Prep

If you can, travel to the airport without any make up on. Cleanse before you go, and apply a moisturiser as usual. This means you’ll have a lovely fresh canvas before you board.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Hydration is the key to combating the dry cabin air. A great trick is to bring a nourishing sheet mask in your hand luggage, where you can sit back and let the hydrating ingredients work their magic while you fly. An in-flight prosecco can be tempting, but if you can stick to water, you’re giving your skin everything it needs for that pre-holiday glow.

You’ll find either the Rodial Jelly Eye Patches or Bubble Mask in our Travel Essentials ROCCABOX, both perfect for placing on the face while flying in the air.

Lock in Moisture

To ensure your skin retains its moisture throughout the flight, apply a rich moisturiser or hyaluronic acid serum straight after your sheet mask. This ensures double the hydrating properties, so you can have the most hydrated skin possible for when you step off that plane.

One of our newest favourite moisturisers is the PerriconeMD Cold Plasma Plus Intensive Hydrating Complex, the hero hydrating product you can find in our ROCCABOX Travel Essentials box.

Targeted Treatments

Long flights can leave you with puffy eyes and dark circles. Jelly eye patches are a fantastic solution for this. We carefully selected Rodial’s Jelly Eye Patches for our latest box, designed to visibly relax and reduce the appearance of crow’s feet. They are infused with 1% SYN®-AKE tripeptide that actively freezes muscle contractions for a plump, smooth and rejuvenated under-eye area. Apply them about 20 minutes before landing for a refreshed look.

Mist Throughout the Flight

A hydrating facial mist is also a must-have for any flight. It helps to keep your skin hydrated and provides a refreshing boost whenever you need it. Spritz on your face every 30 minutes or so to keep your skin looking dewy and fresh.

Who knew there was such thing as a DIY in-flight facial, and it was as easy as this! As well as the relaxing element, you’ll also arrive at your destination looking and feeling your best. So, pack your travel-sized skincare essentials and enjoy your flight with confidence!
