In the beauty cupboard with....
We sat down with our August box curator, Em Sheldon, to find out what's in her very extensive beauty cupboard (and what she wishes was in it)!
Current lust-have?
I’m currently dreaming of Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation. I’m a total sucker for foundations, for me, a good base product is key. I have a wardrobe full of foundations, primers and concealers because in my opinion, you cannot beat a flawless base. Of course, a base comes from epic skincare but there are certain foundations I swear by to hide late nights and long days. I know I’ll fall for Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation because it’s. And make up skincare range, giving a natural make up look whilst nourishing the skin too. I love multitasking products. You know they’re going to protect and fix the skin, whilst giving a flawless look too.
If this is something I already have that’s an expensive product? Here we go;
Jo Malone Tuberrose Angelica Cologne Intense is my ultimate lust-worthy product. It’s worth every penny because it’s smells divine but it also lasts on the skin better than any fragrance. For me, Jo Malone oozes class, luxury but also, it makes me feel great. Perfume is something I wear for me, it makes me feel confident, sexy and ready for the day ahead. I was always told to choose a signature scent, match it up lovely underwear and don’t do it for anyone but yourself. It gives you that inner confidence that no-one else needs to see. I’d also highly recommend Armani Si fragrance oil, another sensual, confidence-building scent which always attracts compliments. The concentrated oil means it lasts a lot longer.
Current must-have?
By Terry Baume De Rose with Clinique’s Moisture Surge. I love mix and matching products to get extra benefits and I’ve actually been pairing Baume De Rose with two pumps of Clinique’s Moisture Surge every morning. Moisture Surge is a supercharged, water-gel hydrator and it instantly quenches my skin, it also has antioxidants in it to help environmental stress. Baume De Rose is incredibly comforting, it sinks straight into the skin and helps to nourish, repair and protect skin. It’s great for intensive repair and together, they keep my skin glowing and hydrated all day long. In the evening I use Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil, it cheats 8 hours sleep and repairs my skin whilst I’m sleeping.
Beauty muse?
It’s so hard to choose just the one! First I’d have to say Rosie Huntington-Whitely. She is utterly flawless and she slays the ‘no make up make up look’ but she’s a business women too. I’m a little bit addicted to her divine miracle oil for body, bath and hair (it’s the ultimate Summer multitasker). Karlie Kloss is another inspirational beauty muse. She pushes ‘unconventional skills’ like coding for young women and seems beautiful inside and out. I love her approach to life, happiness and wellbeing.
First ever make-up item:
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturiser. My family have sworn by Clinique for as long as I can remember. My Grandma and Mum took me to a Clinique counter and bought me the traditional three step skincare routine. I then picked up the Clinique Perfectly Real foundation too and remember telling everyone how great it was. After that, I mixed this up with Clarins skincare which has always been a family favourite (their hydra-quench mask has been a family holy grail for a long time). Benefit was my first ‘grown up’ beauty brand, I used to love their Dandelion Blush and then I swore by MAC everything as soon as I got into high school (you couldn't tear me away from Studio Fix foundation and I still use their Mineralize Powder to this day, I’ve been using it since I was 16!)
Skin-deep beauty tip:
Sleep. It sounds dull and cliche but sleep is so important for your mental health, wellbeing, body, mind, skin, you name it. Without a good nights sleep we can be grouchy, it can effect our skin, our mood and even how efficiently our body burns fat apparently!
I’ll never buy in to…
Backcombing the hair! No matter how good it looks, it’s dreadful for the hair!
I’m most excited by…
I love seeing new brand launches, Guerlain is a brand that excite me every month with their new launches, I've honestly never come across a Guerlain product that I don’t adore. It’s a wonderful brand. L’Oreal Paris are really setting the bar high too, I love how well they work with bloggers, they have their L’Oreal Beauty Squad for example and work with us, rather than against us. Their new launches are also exceptional, I can’t get enough of their lip paints and I’m so excited to see what else the brand works on this year.
