Keep Your Makeup Looking Hot in the Heat
It’s hot, it’s humid and despite using a primer that boasted all-day staying power, your foundation seems be sliding off quicker than a slip and slide.
We’ve all been there, it’s called August.
Whether it be amidst a UK heatwave or on foreign shores, having a few tips on how to stay looking hot when it’s too hot, can be a life saver.
Get the August box here.
Our aim for the August box, is to show you ladies effortless makeup looks that we're loving this summer, especially ones that are fuss-free with staying power during the heat.
TIP ONE
We’re all for the ‘less is more’ makeup approach during the warmer months, but it’s still summer, right? We LOVE a colour pop here and there. Not only is it fun and very seasonal, but it’s hot on trend right now.
Doucce Luscious Lip stains in shades Holiday Getaway and Passion Peach, bring heat and excitement to a natural makeup look. The full coverage lip paint promises to last all day without feathering or transferring, making it perfect for when you’re on-the-go in warm weather, or sipping a mojito on vacay. When your lip colour steals the show, it’s easier to tone it down on your eyes and face.
We’d recommend a bold lip over heavy cheeks and eyes.
If you’re feeling extra confident, try applying a sweep of Passion Peach along your upper lash line, bringing an ultra-modern splash of colour to your look. This is great for festivals too, the pigmentation lasts much longer than a shadow.
TIP TWO
A thick coating of mascara leaves you open to flaky mascara specks on your cheeks, or under eye smudges.
Our recommendation would be one or two strokes, adding a little length and definition, but so it’s subtle. The Lord and Berry mascara has a chunky bristle brush, making a subtle look easy to achieve. Apply only to the top lashes, as bottom lashes are much more likely to smudge. The formula is also enriched with vitamins, nourishing lashes upon use.
TIP THREE
Nobody wants Monica-Geller-does-Barbados style hair, but achieving volume without humidity frizz is a hard job.
The Philip Kingsley Elasticizer is a pre-shampoo treatment that adds bounce and life to your locks, whist still adding weight to prevent frizz and help hair shine.
If all else fails and the frizz has taken over (or if you went out the night before and cba to wash your hair), a messy low bun or pony, adorned with the Willow and Ed Pearl Hair Clip is a go-to.
An eye-catching accessory is a great trick to distract any attention away from a sweaty upper lip or unruly hair.
TIP FOUR
We know how much spots can impact confidence, even more so in the heat, as foundation and concealer just doesn’t seem to stay-put.
Hydration and cleaning are big helpers in keeping those little buggers from rearing their heads, therefore, the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser was a natural choice for this month’s box. Specifically designed not to strip skin of its natural moisturising oils, it removes dirt, makeup and other impurities without drying or blocking pores.
Whilst we all know about cleansing in the evening, cleansing in the morning is just as important. This removes any dead skin cells accumulated through the night, helping to prevent blocked-up pores which encourages spots.
Another absolute summer skin hero, is the Revolution Brightening Primer (not in this month's box, but a Roccabox beauty fave). The bright pink cream transforms skin from dull and tired, to tanned, bright and healthy. We wear this daily with no foundation needed.
It’s a matte formula that lasts all day, giving it preference over BB creams or tinted moisturisers as they tend to leave our skin greasy.
No one needs any extra ‘dewy’ when its above 25 degrees!
So, there you have it. Our favourite hints and tips on keeping summer makeup looking fresh, even when it’s hot hot hot.
