These 7 Tips Will Help You Combat Stress Daily
Stress is everywhere... whether it is choosing what to eat for breakfast or making a life-changing decision, stress seems to follow us around. In fact, 74% of UK adults (81% being women), said they have felt so stressed at some point over the last year that they were unable to cope (Crazy, right?). So why are we so stressed? And how can we combat it?
Women are more stressed than men. Period. We take on SO many day-to-day roles and responsibilities, and not taking out enough time for ourselves. According to Women's Health Mag, the number one stress-causing factor is having a heavy workload or too much responsibility that we cannot manage. Stress does not only affect our mood but also has physical impacts that can cause upset stomachs, anxiety and lower our sex drive (no-one wants that). So, here at Roccabox HQ, we have created a list of our top 7 tips to help combat stress in your daily life!
1. Get some exercise
We all know that exercise does our body good, but we quickly dismiss it as we are ‘too busy’ and stressed to fit it into our daily life. BUT exercise is scientifically proven to act as a stress reliever. Being active can boost your feel-good endorphins and distract you from daily worries. So grab your trainers and get moving!
2. Simplify your life
We all have many commitments in our lives, starting with work but also including commitments related to kids, our spouses, things to do at home etc. If we consider each of these and the amount of stress they provide, we can start to edit the ones that stress you out the most. Even if it seems brutal, it will do you a world of good!
3. Write it down
Sometimes when you are feeling something so deeply and do not know how to get it out of your head you just have to write it down! Keeping a daily journal or simply writing down how you are feeling and the things you are thankful for in your life can help you handle stress.
4. Take a break
If the going gets rough and you feel like you are going to implode, take a break girl! The world will not stop turning if you give yourself a few minutes to take death breaths and reset your mind. Something I have found helpful is 10 minutes a day of relaxed meditation, in order to clear my mind after a busy day of juggling all my responsibilities.
5. Alter your perspective
This may be easier said than done, but sometimes we can let the stress get the better of us and forget about all of the amazing things we have in our lives. When you find yourself getting stressed, take a step back to reflect and ask yourself these questions:
- Why am I stressed?
- Is this something I can help?
- How can I make this into a positive?
6. Try herbal remedies
I must admit I was a little sceptical of these at first, but trust me they work!! There are thousands of natural remedies out there to help with things such as stress, anxiety, sleep and energy levels. One of my all-time favourite rescue remedies, (which happens to be in this months Roccabox...how exciting) is the ThisWorks stress check. It can be used from the moment you wake up, helping to calm the mind, until just before you sleep to help guide you through life’s daily stresses.
7. Have a home ‘spa’ day
A day to treat and pamper yourself is so important for maintaining stress levels, yet it is so easily forgotten. Whether it is once a week or once a month, run a warm bubble bath, grab that bottle of champers and a box of chocolates and shut yourself in the bathroom for some ‘me’ time.
