You're A Boss, Babe: Like It On Top

This September is all about celebrating BOSSES and we have interviewed some of our fabulous female owned brands from our September box! Meet Ryanne and Diana, the sister duo from Like It On Top.  

 

  1. Tell us how your brand started...

Like It On Top was created by two British-based sisters, Ryanne and Diana, as an acne treatment for our own skin. Based on personal experiences and after successfully managing our own breakouts we wanted to launch Like It On Top with a focus on the use of natural, organic and vegan ingredients.

  1. Top tip for starting your own business?

Understanding your target customers and the existing market, as well as what your competitors are doing is really important. 

  1. One thing you wish you knew before starting?

The power of Instagram and how to cope with demand! We are absolutely inundated with global orders from customers in Australia, UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Dubai, India, Australia and the USA.

  1. What’s the best advice you have received on your business journey?

Don't procrastinate. Some people have told us not to move ahead with the business until we had investigated every last detail of the business. The problem with this approach is that it leads to procrastination. No one ever really has all the pieces in place and we have been learning along the way. Yes, you need to research the market, have a business plan in place etc. But if you try to make everything perfect before you launch, you may never get around to starting the business at all. 

  1. What inspired you to start your own company?

Having excess time at home due to Covid-19 global health pandemic enabled us to get the business started. 

  1. Where do you see yourself in 3 years?

Hopefully moving to a bigger space so that we can increase production and reach a larger audience.

  1. Who is your Boss Babe inspiration?

Beyonce! She is our number one Boss Babe inspiration: she works hard without a day off and we follow the same mantra!

  1. What is your secret to success?

Don't fixate on mistakes! Just keep working on improving the product or service to keep customers engaged.

  1. What is the biggest challenge you have had to overcome?

Increased delivery time frames due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We have also had to deal with short supply on some stock, for example, there's a global shortage of spray lids which keeps us awake at night! Packaging products to avoid breakage is also a big challenge since glass breaks very easily, but we would not dream of using plastic bottles!
